IT Services and Support project is responsible for the acceptance, qualification and solution-oriented processing of IT workspace-related processes in Technical Development.

To cover all the different tasks, the team is divided into the following areas:

  • IT User Helpdesk

  • IT Support

  • Shopfloor and Measurement IT 

  • IT Organisation

  • Quality Assurance

Our Services & Skills – IT for TD

IT User Helpdesk

The User Helpdesk is responsible for the acceptance, pre-qualification and the fastest possible solution or forwarding of incoming requests.

Enquiries or problems are recorded via the ticket system and if a specific solution is not found, the requests can be forwarded to all the other specialist teams within the group.

IT Support

Client Support handles requests received from the IT User Helpdesk. We work together to solve incoming hardware and software enquiries.

An important part of our work is to identify problems and errors in the infrastructure, prevent a recurrence or develop suitable workarounds – in other words, to find solutions.

In addition to traditional IT support, our expertise also includes premium support (VIP user group) and media technology for meeting rooms.

Shopfloor and Metrology IT

The team assists customers with the development of specific solutions for the commissioning of equipment and systems for vehicle diagnosis, measurement machines and machine tools, continuous operation stations, test benches, simulators, testing tools and data loggers.

Collaborative work and extensive networking with the IT User Help Desk and additional 2nd level support units is just as much a part of the daily work environment as the processing of enquiries, the investigation of the causes of system errors or interruptions, and the development of solutions. Work here also involves coordination with manufacturers and service providers to ensure special requirements are met.

IT Organisation

Our job is to administer and order leased and purchased devices from the IT workplace product catalogue of the Volkswagen Group, procure and administer standard and non-standard software via the implemented systems and deliver special orders directly to the user, including configuration and instructions.

In doing so, we establish and optimise the procurement processes on an ongoing basis. An important part of our work is to cooperate effectively with the respective interfaces in line with coordinated processes.

Quality Assurance

Quality Assurance supports and advises the operative teams in compliance with quality standards with a view to providing the best possible service for our customers. An important aspect of our work is to establish and maintain a comprehensive knowledge management system, oversee reporting and analyses, and control and monitor general processes in incident, request and change management.

What does “TD” do at Volkswagen?

Technical Development (TD) is where new Volkswagen models are built. Our employees develop concepts, design, model and test new car ideas in a highly secure area at the Wolfsburg plant. For this work, they have access to the latest technology and a wide range of test benches, wind tunnels and two test areas. Electromobility also plays a major role in what they do – after all, our job is to develop the cars of the future. We ensure that IT in the TD is operational and that state-of-the-art technology is consistently applied.
